uuidfountain

A device that consumes v4 UUIDs at an extreme rate and sprays them into the void, purely to deprive the rest of humanity of ones they never would've used. Requested by @eikopf.com; the fountain and the three.js breakthrough were green-lit by @bisks.net.

is this a real problem?

No. UUIDv4 has 2^122 possible values — about 5.3 × 1036 of them. Even sustaining this fountain's rate forever, you would exhaust the space somewhere around 1023 years from now, several trillion times past the heat death of the universe. Every ID minted here is a real, cryptographically random crypto.randomUUID() call — it's just that "consuming" one does absolutely nothing to anyone else's supply. Spray freely.
